ACFF stands in solidarity with Black Lives Matter and Black, Indigenous, and People Of Color Communities.

We commit, as an organization, community members, and individuals to do more to fight racial injustice. It is time to turn the lens on ourselves to truly change the narrative. We all need to do the work to really understand how we can be part of a solution. There are myriad resources for education and participation – read, watch, donate, protest, learn. Until we all address anti-Blackness, structural violence, institutional racism, and white supremacy, we can’t live sustainably. We won’t make progress on the climate crisis and environmental conservation without humanity intact.

To start, we will read and share resources related to racial injustice and how it connects to environmental injustice, and we ask for your recommendations. ACFF will continue to work harder than ever to amplify diverse voices through engaging, inspiring, and informative conservation-focused films.

How we best show up for and support Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) in our communities and organization is an ongoing mandate. This is a statement of support and a commitment to more action. We will continue to share and update our resources and organizational actions on this page.

Resources

There are many resources circulating about how to better understand and support Black Lives Matter and BIPOC. Here we offer a list that we – the staff of ACFF – have found particularly helpful and have offered short synopses as to how and why. It will be continuously updated. Please be aware that these writers and educators are sharing their resources, intellect, and knowledge, and it is hard, emotional work they are doing for little or no compensation. Please look to see if the author/creator/filmmaker has a way you can offer online payment and give what you can.
