Wild Hope: Unleaded

Golden eagles, one of the largest raptors in North America, are declining due to an unlikely poison: lead. Golden eagles scavenge on animal remains contaminated by lead bullets. To protect them, conservationists are trying to get hunters to switch to lead-free alternatives, such as copper bullets.

Kitty Hu is a Chinese diasporic documentary filmmaker and co-founder of Shoes Off Media, an intergenerational Asian women-led production company centering on storytellers with lived experiences both in front of and behind the lens. As the daughter of immigrants, Hu’s work applies community-centered documentary tactics to amplify stories at the intersection of justice and human relationships, looking at topics such as labor, housing, culture, migration, and climate.
